Were you born after January 1, 1985 and are at least 12 years old? If so, then you are required to have a snowmobile safety certificate in order to operate a snowmobile on public trails and areas in Wisconsin.
The Waukesha County Snowmobile Association believes it is important for all snowmobilers, especially young snowmobilers, to understand Wisconsin's snowmobile rules and regulations, proper trail etiquette, and responsible snowmobile ownership. Many of Waukesha County's snowmobile clubs provide snowmobile safety classes each year to anyone interested in obtaining their safety certificate for a nominal fee.
All students are required to have a DNR Customer ID number prior to attending their first class. If you have purchased a DNR license of any kind, you have already been assigned a customer ID. If not, please visit Wisconsin's Go Wild site to create a new customer account.
You must attend each class session and, upon successful completion of the course and passing the multiple-choice test, in order to receive your snowmobile safety certificate. This certificate must be carried with you at all times while operating a snowmobile.
